30/03/2008 Mr S K Srivastava was given a grand farewell by
the alumni association on 30.03.2008. A cricket match was organised in his honor
between the alumni and staff TNA. As would happen, with SK sir in your team you
are bound to win. The outcome of the match was not the important part, though
for posterity sake it has to be mentioned that the old (pun intended) boys did
get thrashed. SK sir or Craft sir as we fondly remember him joined TNA in 1973 ,
he must have been a bachelor then. He retired on 31-03-2008 after a long and
successful inning and as a grandfather. We would like to thank SK Sir for
having been there when we needed him. SK Sir taught us a lot of things which
still come in use today. Every time we pick up the hand saw we are reminded of
SK Sir for he was the one who taught us how to use it, he was the Guru who
taught us the difference between the hammer and the mallet but that was not all,
for he taught a lot of our friends what art was all about -yes ,he is an artist
too. That's not all, SK Sir also taught some of us how to play badminton. He
was one of the best badminton players in the state of Sikkim in his younger
days. He was a very good cricketer (all rounder) and I am certain some of you
must have learnt your cricket from him. Sir also taught me what little I know
about photography -that a photograph was developed in a dark room and what a
dark room looks like. Now those of you who took technical drawing as a subject
will like us to mention that also. When it was time for me to leave school and
be a man in this world , I was more than ready for the harsh world outside ,
for I had spent my last year in school in close proximity to SK Sir and without
bias, I must mention he was one of the more successful house masters of Yuksom
house. Mr Jigmey Namgyal, sports secy of the association , who also benefited
greatly from his association with SK Sir, single-handedly organised the match
and dinner . The dinner hosted in honor of Mr SK Srivastava at "Flamboyance"
Tadong was a success. We would like to thank Mr T Wangyal (Tango), alumni for
the concessions made. Thank you ,Tango Bhai. Photos /videos are uploaded.
